Vols are Likely Without LB Juwan Mitchell Against Pitt

WBIR reports that veteran linebacker Juwan Mitchell will not be playing for Tennessee. Mitchell, who was ineligible to play last week against Ball State for reasons that were not disclosed, was listed as a co-starter for this week’s game.

Mitchell did not participate in Ball State’s pregame stretching and instead emerged from the locker room in his street clothes.

Prior to the game, Mitchell was listed as a starting player alongside Aaron Beasley. At the time, one source speculated that Mitchell’s absence was not due to injury and that he might play in this week’s game. The outlook for Mitchell’s comeback has dimmed throughout the week. According to WBIR, his return is most likely for next week’s game against Akron.
